Learning to fly with Jesus. God built us, Jesus saves us, and we fly with Him every day until we land safely home.

Theme verse

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.Isaiah 40:31 (KJV)

The five days

  1. Day 1 · The Hangar

God designed everything, and He built me on purpose.

Bible story: God Made Everything (Genesis 1:1–2:3)

Apply it: No airplane ever built itself; every plane has a designer and a builder. God’s world is far more amazing than any plane: birds that fly, wind that lifts, and people who can think, laugh and love. “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” He designed you too, and the Bible says you are “fearfully and wonderfully made.” You aren’t an accident. You were built by God, for God, on purpose.

  2. Day 2 · The Flight Log

God has been faithful all through history.

Bible story: Heroes of Faith (Hebrews 11)

Apply it: Hebrews 11 is God’s flight log of faith. Noah built an ark before there was any rain. Abraham left home without knowing where he was going. Moses led God’s people out of Egypt. None of them was perfect, but they trusted God, and God kept every promise. All of history was heading to the greatest promise of all: Jesus, the Saviour. God has never failed anyone who trusted Him, and He won’t fail you.

  3. Day 3 · Takeoff

Jesus died for my sins and rose again. When I trust Him, I’m cleared for takeoff.

Bible story: The Crucifixion and Resurrection Story (Matthew 26–28 · Mark 14–16 · Luke 22–24 · John 18–20)

Apply it: A plane can’t fly when it’s too heavy, and we can’t reach God with the weight of our sin. We all have sinned, and the wages of sin is death. But Jesus, who never sinned, carried our sins on the cross and died in our place. Three days later He rose again! Your ticket to heaven can’t be earned; it’s a gift Jesus already paid for. When you turn from your sin and trust Jesus, you are forgiven and cleared for takeoff into a brand-new life with Him.

  4. Day 4 · Cruising Altitude

I fly with God every day, even through turbulence.

Bible story: Daniel in the Lions’ Den (Daniel 6:1–28)

Apply it: Daniel prayed to God three times a day, every day. When a new law said no one could pray to anyone but the king, Daniel kept praying with his windows open, just as he always had. He was thrown into a den of lions, but God sent His angel and shut the lions’ mouths. Flying with God means staying in touch with Him every day: talking to Him in prayer and trusting His Word, even when the flight gets bumpy. Turbulence doesn’t mean God has left you. He was right there in the den with Daniel, and He is with you.

  5. Day 5 · Final Approach

I put on God’s armor and finish strong.

Bible story: The Armour of God (Ephesians 6:10–18)

Apply it: Following Jesus isn’t a short hop; it’s a long flight, and God wants us to finish strong. He gives us armor: the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, shoes of the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. Paul flew a long, hard flight for Jesus, and at the end he could say, “I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” With God’s armor on, you can finish strong too.
