Shine with the Light of Jesus. Jesus is the Light of the world, and those who follow Him shine His light.
Theme verse
Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.John 8:12 (KJV)
The five days
Day 1 · Morning Light
God made everything, and He made me.
Bible story: God Made Everything (Genesis 1:1–2:3)
Apply it: The first thing God made was light: “Let there be light: and there was light.” Then He filled the world with seas and stars, birds and beasts, and on the sixth day He made people in His own image. Everything He made was very good. You are not an accident; you were made by God and for God. Because He made us, we can thank Him, trust Him, and treat every person as someone God made on purpose.
Day 2 · Pillar of Fire
God lights the way.
Bible story: Crossing the Red Sea (Exodus 13:17–14:31)
Apply it: God led His people with a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night, and when they reached the sea, He made a path right through the middle of it. They walked across on dry ground! When you don’t know which way to go, God hasn’t left you in the dark. His Word is “a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” Follow His light one step at a time, even when the way ahead doesn’t look possible.
Day 3 · Lamplight Square
Jesus is the Light of the world.
Bible story: The Man Born Blind (John 9:1–41)
Apply it: The man had never seen a sunrise or his mother’s face until Jesus opened his eyes. When the leaders argued about Jesus, he gave the simplest answer: “One thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.” Jesus opens hearts to see who He really is, the Light of the world. You don’t need every answer to tell others about Jesus; you can just tell them what He has done for you.
Day 4 · Easter Dawn
Jesus died for my sins and rose again. Darkness could not win.
Bible story: Mary in the Garden (John 20:1–18)
Apply it: Jesus never sinned, but He died on the cross for our sins, and it seemed as if darkness had won. Mary came to the tomb while it was still dark, weeping, and found it empty. Then Jesus spoke her name, “Mary,” and she knew Him: He was alive! The darkness of sin and death could not hold Him. Jesus died for our sins and rose again so we could walk in His light. He knows your name too, and He calls you to trust Him and follow Him.
Day 5 · Shine Street
Jesus changes hearts so we can shine for Him.
Bible story: Saul Meets Jesus (Acts 9:1–19 · Acts 22:6–16)
Apply it: Saul hated Christians and was on his way to arrest them when a light from heaven knocked him to the ground and Jesus spoke to him. Jesus changed Saul into Paul, who spent the rest of his life telling the world about Jesus. No one is too far gone for Jesus to change. Once His light is in us, He wants us to shine where we are: at home, at school and with our friends. “Let your light so shine before men.”
