Victory Voyage VBS

Victory over sin and death. Jesus won the victory over sin and death, and everyone who trusts Him sails home in His victory.

Theme verse

But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.1 Corinthians 15:57 (KJV)

The five days

  1. Day 1 · Promise Point

    God promised a Victor.

Bible story: Where Art Thou? (Genesis 3:1–24)

Apply it: God made a perfect world, but Adam and Eve listened to the serpent instead of God, and sin came in. With sin came sadness, pain and death. They hid, but God came looking: “Where art thou?” Right there, God made a promise: one day a Son born of a woman would crush the serpent’s head. That promised Victor is Jesus. Sin is the reason the world hurts, but God had a plan to win from the very first day, and God always keeps His promises.

  2. Day 2 · Wilderness Reef

Jesus won over temptation, and God’s Word helps me say no.

Bible story: Jesus Is Tempted (Matthew 4:1–11 · Luke 4:1–13)

Apply it: After forty days without food, the devil came to Jesus with three temptations. Each time, Jesus answered with Scripture: “It is written.” Adam fell in a garden full of good food; Jesus won in a wilderness with none. Temptation comes to us too: to lie, to grab what isn’t ours, to be unkind. Jesus is our Victor, and He gave us the very weapon He used: God’s Word, hidden in our hearts. When you know what God says, you can say no to sin.

  3. Day 3 · Bethany Harbor

Jesus is the resurrection and the life.

Bible story: Lazarus, Come Forth (John 11:1–45)

Apply it: Mary and Martha sent for Jesus when their brother was sick, but by the time He came, Lazarus had died. Jesus cried with His friends; He cares when we are sad. Then He told Martha, “I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.” He called into the tomb, “Lazarus, come forth,” and the dead man walked out! Death is the strongest enemy there is, and it had to obey the voice of Jesus.

  4. Day 4 · Victory Hill

Jesus died for my sins and rose again. He won the victory!

Bible story: The Crucifixion and Resurrection Story (Matthew 26–28 · Mark 14–16 · Luke 22–24 · John 18–20)

Apply it: Jesus never sinned, but on the cross He took the punishment for our sins, and He died. His body was laid in a tomb, and a stone was rolled across the door. It looked as if sin and death had won. But on the third day Jesus rose again! “O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?” Jesus won, and He offers His victory to you as a free gift. When you turn from your sin and trust Him, His victory becomes yours.

  5. Day 5 · Home Port

In Jesus, the victory lasts forever.

Bible story: A New Heaven and a New Earth (Revelation 21:1–7)

Apply it: At the end of the Bible, God shows us where the voyage is headed: a new heaven and a new earth, where “God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death.” Everyone who belongs to Jesus will be there with Him forever. That is the final victory! Until we get home, we live as winners in Jesus: brave when things are hard, kind to everyone, and telling others how to come aboard.
